Sue Mayfield is a trained teacher with a wealth of experience with children of all ages.

She visits schools for one-off Author Days and is happy to read from her work, answer students’ questions or lead writing workshops. Sue’s novel Voices is an ideal companion to students studying The Tempest, and many of her teenage books explore themes of bullying, relationships, faith and loss, making them suitable for study in PSHE and RE as well as English.

Sue has done longer residencies in a number of schools, teaching and mentoring young writers through projects spanning several weeks or months.

In the past few years she has worked on Storylines a fiction and reminiscence project connecting Year 6 pupils with older members of their local community; Callowell Critters, creating stories and sock creatures with artist Imogen Harvey Lewis and photographer Emma Bradshaw; and on Making an Impact, developing skills in autobiographical writing with Year 10 students.
